Sgt L.A. Landry - Arty and Sigs

"[A] signal corps under Sgt Landry" was dispatched by boat to MajGen Taylor by LieutGen E.K. Smith (TMD) per message of 19 Mar 1864 (I OR 34(1) 499) to effect communication between the two commanders. I believe this to be Sgt "L.A." (Louis Aristides) Landry of Ascension, who enlisted in Capt Landry's arty co, Donaldsonville Arty in 1861. He may be same person who I find in Co. E, 26th LA Inf, surrendered at Vicksburg Jul 63. He was captured at Natchithoses 1 Apr 64 and exch'd 22 Jul 64. At that time -- or perhaps later -- I believe that he was transferred or detailed to the TMD signal corps serving Smith and, in that capacity, was surrendered in New Orleans 26 May 1865.

However, listing of Louisiana Confederate soldiers (Ancestry dot com) displays two men named L.A. Landry, one credited with service in Donaldsonville arty, but paroled Lynchburg, VA, Apr 1865, and the other credited with signal corps and surrendered in LA as above. I believe these refs to be to the same person, but cannot reconcile the different terminations of service (places and dates), unless perhaps one alludes to exchange after earlier capture and the other to his subsequent signal corps service and general surrender. (Or perhaps that his original unit continued to carry him "on their books" beyond detail to signal corps and overlooked actual transfer.)

Has anyone looked into Landry's company/Donaldsonville arty and Co. E, 26th LA and might help settle this?
