I would imagine that he was referring to Carroll's Mill. The distance from Mansfield would be about right. It was south of Mansfield on the Pleasant Hill road and I believe is sometimes referred to as Roberson's Mill due to a marriage between the Carroll and Roberson families. A battle was fought there on April 7th. It was a steam operated lumber mill and as such was located on one of the only sources of water in the area. The proximity to water made it a valuable camp site.
