Four cannons will be doing a firing display and there will be Civil War displays with various period items. There will be food, arts and crafts, inflatables for children and much more! There will be other festivities leading up to the event in April!
#On Saturday April 14th at the Prairie County Community Center the first Miss Fort Lincoln Freedom Fest beauty pageant will be held. It's a natural beauty pageant that will have nice prize packages for the winners who will represent the Fort Lincoln Festival.
#There will be a Civil War Gala on April 21st at the old DeVall's Bluff gymnasium. It will be an elegant period attire or formal attire dinner catered by Stanley Young of Murray's Restaurant. There will be a silent auction with awesome wares and dancing from that era. There will be live entertainment and Karen Duffey of St. Louis, a professional reenactor with over 30 years experience, will lead anyone interested in period dancing. It's an exciting month!!!
In case you do not know, DeVall's Bluff which is in Prairie County, a short distance from the interstate and approximately 50 miles east of Little Rock on old Hwy 70, housed approximately 20,000 Union troops. Plus there was an office of the Freedman's Bureau located there during Reconstruction. Everything about the place is historical.
Today, it is more known for being the sleepy little town it is, Craig's barbecue and two great pie shops. But that sleepy little town will come alive in April, so come be part of the celebration. The welcome mat is out, so feel free to come. Everyone is invited.
