We took to our cars about ten o’clock this morning, had a pleasant ride through “Old East Tennessee.” At dusk we rolled up to Dalton, Georgia and were told to sleep in, on, and about the cars. We scattered about and did the best we could.
We left Mobile at seven o’clock this morning. At sunset we arrived at Meridian. Here we changed cars. We lay here all day
We lay on the side of the railroad and tried to sleep a little but the cars kept up such puffing and blowing up and down the road, it was impossible to sleep with any satisfaction.
At eight o’clock the 4th [Reynold’s] Brigade took the cars for Mobile
