Hays’ brigade went into the cornfield with 550 men and lost 45 killed, 289 wounded, and 2 missing, for a total of 61 percent. The 12th Massachusetts, one of the Union regiments that opposed Hays, lost 224 out of 334 men, or a 67 percent loss—the highest percentage casualty rate of any Union regiment that day.

It’s not known how many men were in Starke's Brigade, but it lost 81 dead, 189 wounded, and 17 missing.
