I did an electronic search of Booth's for Sparta and found that a large number of men enlisted there. Also found a couple of shoemakers detailed there earlier than the time in question. I would suppose that would be a good indication there was probably a depot of some sort there. I didn't find any indication of anyone being exchanged there.

Maybe parolees awaiting exchange worked in the depots until they could rejoin their units?
