Demonsthene Nunez, ran a courier service Lake Charles -Vermilionville for the 7 reg.la. cav. C.S.A. ...his records were lost and his widow's pension was denied, but evidence recently discovered indicate Demosthene was '' active''. ...Demonsthene's brother, Josehp S. Nunez, 10th la. inf battn. (Berard), went on to become a future Sheriff of Vermilion Parish.Both out lived the war and are buried Catholic Cemetery Abbeville, La. Francois Mathurin Clostio 1n 1858 lived in New Orleans, La....He resigned from the U.S. army around 1878 and his time I have not researched as of yet. Will work on him next. Basile Sance (Saux, Seaux) 1st reg la. cav. co. k (Union)died 1935 buried at Cow Island, La. I do know I had 2 gr. grand fathers in the Union army, 2 gr. grandfathers in the C.S.A. . and elements of Basile's / Demonsthene's regiments probably encountered each other Lake Verrett 1865.Post war - these 2 would live a mile from each other and their children/grandchildren inter- marry... ain't fate strange ?
