I do know he (Omer) never went to prison following the war and he got into some sort of legal dispute following the war also. When I telephone St. Anne's Catholic Church in Napoleonville,La. (1-985-369-6656) on 10.30.2013 at 3 p.m. an employee advised me that Emile Homer Boudreaux,2nd. La. Cav. Co, h, b.1849, d.1909,age 66 was buried there next to his wife, who was named only as Mrs. Emile Boudreaux b.1849 d.1915. The born date did not match Mr. and Mrs. Valentine Boudreaux son and I wasn't 100 % certain myself that it was 'our Omer' either.Living too far away to drive there and research it myself, I had to depend on somebody else's word.My interest in the civil war in the Lafourche region is Basile Sance (Seaux) 1st. La.Cav. Co k (Union),my great grandfather, and the affair at Bayou Delarge with Union 2nd. Lt .Numa Pompaneau was a mission in which Omer's name came up. Pompaneau reported Omer as being basically left for dead behind Theriots Plantation...a few days following Omer surrendered himself at Thibodaux. Sounds 'fishy' but they grew up fairly close to one and other before the war,and it's possible they all knew, that where the South was concerned, 'the jig was over'.It did not sound like anyone was serious about capturing him.Another incindent with Omer was the Labadieville raid in which Mr. Guerrin was killed. Again I have never located any paperwork indicating the debts were paid to Guerrin's widow.
In some way's Omer was a lucky man,many times.
