Re: John Morrison, 6th or 8th LA Inf.

N. Wayne & George,
Thank you both very much for your information.
Based on my prior research concerning this man, and your input, I believe the 'winner' is Company K, 8th LA.
"John Morrison, of Linville, was found dead in a seat at the Virginia Hotel on North Main street on the afternoon of Christmas Day. The cause of death was ascertained to be heart disease. Deceased was an honest and industrious citizen, aged about 67 years. He had an excellent record in the Confederate army and belonged to the Louisiana Tigers. His remains were taken to Linville for burial." [Rockingham Register, Harrisonburg VA newspaper, 4 January 1895, Vol. 73, No. 10, pg. 3, col. 3]
John Morrison, 1829-1894, buried beside wife Mary, Linville Cemetery, Linville, Rockingham County.
John Morrison, aged 49, Stone Mason, born Ireland, wife Mary A., sons - Robert F. aged 8, John C. aged 3. [1880 Rockingham County Census, pg. 34, Linville, House # 252, Family # 256]
