The Louisiana in the Civil War Message Board

Re: GG Grand Uncle, Louisiana Soldier

I am also looking for more details for Charles Edward Morse (a member of my family, too).

I was wondering if you were able to find any further details about him, his death, and his final resting place.

Our family's research has the same resources which you had previously reported (32 pages of details with Fold3).

However, based on our research, we believe that he was killed on April 2nd, 1865 at Fort Gregg, and is buried in a Union (Poplar Grove) cemetery (see www.ancestry.com/imageviewer/collections/2590/images/40479_2421402106_0473-02526?pId=1968802) . The "Chase E. Morse" who is listed as being buried there, in fact, supposedly LIVED through the Civil War and returned to Massachusetts.

We are REALLY trying to hammer out what happened to Charles Edward Morse, and we are hoping that over the past seven years, you might have been able to find more about our common family member.

Thank you, and God Bless.
