An R. P. Stroud enlisted in Capt. Arthur McArthur's "Sabine Rifles" company (which became Company A of the 6th Louisiana). He was one of 26 members of the company that the steamer "Homer" transferred to Grand Ecore landing on the Red River on May 31, 1861. Since there is no further records of him (and personnel records for the 6th Louisiana are pretty complete), he may not have been accepted into military service when the company was officially mustered into service. Perhaps he was too young, too old, or in poor health? Sources: Booth's Records and Stroud's military record found in Fold3 ancestry site.
