Re: Capt. Louis Antoine Snaer, 73rd USCT

Hi-
I'm doing research on Louis Andre Martinet born in St Martinville in 1849. He was a lawyer, legislator, medical doctor, educator, politician and is best known at the de facto leader of the Comite des Citoyens which initiated the test case that became Plessy v Ferguson. In my research I keep finding the Snaer family. They were closely linked as they both served in the legislature and Snaer was a witness at Martinet's wedding. Also, the Martinet family (not Louis, but my grandparents Edouard and Edvige) moved to Los Angeles in 1913 and Snaer died there in 1917. In addition, we are doing research on Emile DeTiege who served with Snaer in the 73rd (although he resigned in 1863). I was wondering if any of your research if you have found any connections such as letters, photos or, basically, anything that would help with our research on Martinet and DeTiege. Have you pubished your work on Snaer?
