Question - as many know the 1st and 2nd Louisiana Brigades in the ANV were consolidated in '64, supposedly due to lack of manpower in each Brigade. Was doing a bit of book search, and there was a reference made in the summary of a couple of books, that the Brigades were consolidated so as to remove Harry Hays from consideration for promotion to MG of the Division. Appearently Hays had greater time in rank that Gordon did, per these books. I have put in a request for the books to look at them and what exactly what they said, along with any documentation.
Is this what really happened?? Politics got in the way?
