Howdy Dennis, I looked at Civil War Soldiers and Sailors System and they list 13 matches for "Butler, R.". The Alabama Civil War service records database list one match for "Butler, R.O." as "Butler, George O". I suspect that is an error.

I did find this in the Louisiana Confederate pension rolls...
