A researcher can get to the point of not having too much information, but most folks get bogged down in details before getting that far, myself included.

For resource availability, the web should really serve as means of identifying documents and ideas about where others along the same line may be located. A lot of people who post write as if the web is the only source they have and intend to use, i.e., if it's not there, it might as well not exist. Maybe I'm not understanding clearly, but it would seem that most of us in the U.S. should be located somewhere near a facility called a public library. This facility may not have anything you want, but the staff should be able to get most published titles and even copies of articles via interlibrary loan.

Who knows, you may be able to find a book that you really need for next to nothing on EBay or someplace like it.
