Quite possible. Ancestry is a good source for all kinds of information except military. It seems that one of the message board's primary purposes is to clear up the confusion and correct the errors people bring to us from Ancestry.

At least one person on another board cancelled his membership to protest the poor condition of Ancestry's military data. I don't advocate that course of action. Ancestry's services are highly valuable and I use it regularly for everything except military data. Hopefully they will improve in this area one day.
