Barbara --

Thanks for your help. This is a Livingston Parish family. William Daily Stafford almost always appears on the different census reports as Daily Stafford, for example the 1880 register. A brother's name is given as Wright, his full name being John Wright Stafford. They must have preferred the use of middle names. John Wright Stafford also appears to have been the name of Daily Stafford' grandfather.

Parents names are John R. and Ardelia Stafford. They appear with their first child, Charles, on the 1860 census for Livingston Parish. Other children were Missouri Ann (1864), Patrick (1874), Louisa (1878), Lee G. (1886).

John R. Stafford enlisted in Co. "A", 9th Louisiana Battalion. This command never reorganized after its capture at Port Hudson. For that reason I suspect he's the J. R. Stafford listed with Co. "H", Wingfield's 3rd Louisiana Cavalry. After the war Stafford applied to the State of Louisiana for a pension, citing service in the 9th Louisiana Battalion. He died Aug. 17, 1914.

Let me know if you have other questions.
