A North Carolina auction house is offering Chatham R. Wheat's commission as Major in the First Special Battalion of Louisiana Volunteers (dated June 8 1861) for sale. It appears on pp. 40-41 of the attached link. According to the auction house the document has no known provenance. Does anyone know where this has come from?
