Since my last post on this subject I ran accross a letter written by "H.L.R." This is Henry Louis Rey who was captain in both the Confederate and Federal versions of the Native Guard. He comments on supplies issued to his unit by the Federal army and comparing it to the lack of suplies from the Confederates. One of the items mentioned- overcoats.

The letter is in the New York Times (November 20, 1862).
