There were as many "Irish" companies as in the east from what I can tell. The 20th Louisiana had a few but their desertion rate and tendacy to take the Oath was not NEARLY as bad as the Germans in the 20th Louisiana. The Irish companies of this regiment tended to be more reliable. Here's an example, in the retreat from Jackson, Mississippi in July of 1863 almost the entire band of the 13th & 20th Louisiana all deserted in one night...all Germans to the very last man. The 20th La, by the way, has one of the largest bands Iv seen too.

I have the 13th Louisiana compiled and divided into companies but havent dug into the details of the individual men like the 20th. Wont be long.
