So all of the germans deserted, but not the irish in july of 1863. This unit the, 13th and 20th fought at CHickamauga with 289 men. So most of the 13th and 20th at chickamauga would have been Irish and not german? I think a park ranger at chickamauga said that the 19th LA was french and a few companies of Irish. DID the 19th have a lo of desertions by french born soldiers? A lot of questions. We will soon find out when that professor finishes her book ( I forgot her name again), or hopefull when the Gibson book comes out.
