I do not know if he went to Texas but I kinda doubt it. His Brother William died at Camp Douglas, Ill. during the last year of the war. Another brother, Jessie, died at Camp Moore. I got this information from an obituary of his mother and this was in the Baptist Chronicle so I don't think he would have been Cathlolic. He died in 1868 but must have married before then because he had a daughter named Louvina.
