This Company F, Powers' Regiment, was from Mississippi and should not be confused with the earlier Company F, Powers' Regiment of Louisiana and Mississippi Cavalry. The older regiment was broken up, and Powers later commanded a unit of all Mississippi companies. This was the regiment paroled at Gainesville at the end of the war. Company F was commanded by Captain F. Z. Groves. I do not know in which county it was raised.
