Since you're bringing up the subject, I've always wondered if there was any connection between the ball field and 1st Lt. W. S. L. Bringhurst. He enlisted from Alexandria, and was the Ordnance Officer at Fort DeRussy when it was captured in 1864. Seems like someone in Alex should know who the park was named for, and who their family was. I'm interested in seeing what you turn up.
