If I don't get an answer I'm gonna call Dale Genius and see what he can find out. Maybe Charles Neal or Tom Cardwell can tell us something. Meanwhile check out this link...

According to this Rootsweb listing...

http://wc.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=GET&db=waynehb&id=I2669

that man and the Capt. A.C. Bringhurst were brothers. The page also shows William Stuart Bringhurst as born August 27, 1844 in Alexandria, Louisiana as being a brother. That seems a good bet to be your officer from Ft. DeRussy.

Now here's the kicker. William Stuart Bringhurst married one Antoinette Power Nettie Houston, born January 20 1852 in, Huntsville, Walker County, Texas. Follow her link back and you will see she is listed as the daughter of one General Sam Houston.

I never thought this idea would go from being curious about the name of a minor league ballpark to the heart of Texas history. Who'da thunk it? I'm gonna need to help sort this out and confirm it. Maybe the Town Talk of 1933 will tell me something.
