Hello,
Recently, a marker for Charles Porter Bailey, 5th Company, Washington Artillery, was located at Laurel Hill Cemetery, Fitchburg, Massachusetts.
His brother was Captain George Henry Bailey, Co A, 53rd Massachusetts Volunteers, who was mortally wounded at Port Hudson, LA on May 25, 1863 and died May 28, 1863.
It appears that Charles Porter Bailey was KIA at Chickamauga, but we are not sure if he is actually buried here in Fitchburg, or if this is a cenotaph.
Any information would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you,
