Re: Mass soldier in 5th Co., Washington Artillery

Hello,

Again, I'd like to thank everyone that helped me in my quest.

Having observed the stone at the cemetery, I believe it is a cenotaph.

To describe it, it is a small marble stone with the name "Charlie" inscribed and a now illegible epitath. No dates are visible. Interestingly, the stone is pointed at the top, in the manner of Confederate gravestones.

I believe that the stone was placed in the family plot by a grieving family who lost two sons in the war, but were only able to bring one home. To me, it is a very sad and poignant story in stone.
