Steve, that's a shame. I had the honor of boarding the Delta Queen and giving a talk to the passengers when it docked at West Monroe this spring. It was the same day of the Virginia Tech shootings and Bud Roberston (author of Stonewall Jackson, Soldiers Blue and Gray, etc.)was on board leading the Civil War tour. A particularly sad day for him but it was quite an interesting experience. I was given a tour of the boat and discovered it still uses the original steam engines and has changed little over the years. Considering such passenger boats have to pass regular Coast Guard inspections it would seem something could be worked out to keep this historic vessel on the water.
