I'm running into the same problem with the 24th. From what I have found just in a few sources, this was a regiment of elite (and some wealthy) men, I am surprised there has been no publication focused on their service. My ancestor was in Company D. I have located the articles in the old Confederate Veteran magazines, and they give some good eye-witness details to battles, specifically Shiloh. My next research will be with the Daily Picayune, where I have already found several articles about the regiment drilling and their departure to war (wives crying, etc).
