Thankyou Randy for your responce,
I am looking forward to visiting Camp Moore.
From everything that I have been reading so far,Camp Moore was not only a training camp but was also a staging point for the "Hit n Run" tactics of Colonel Logan's troops.
I live in the area between Clinton and Port Hudson.Logan's troops seem to have been everywhere, everytime in this area.
Little is known publically about his efforts so finding good info is hard but I am just now putting his actions in a proper perspective. He must have been a talented leader and strategist, for he seemed to have given the Union troops, that were trying to trap the Confederates escape from Port Hudson, all the dickens.
From his communications,a person could see that he was a man to follow. He was a very optimistic leader.
Again I want to thank you and everyone for your help to keep this forgotten history alive. Many people have tried to eliminate this period in time, in our country's past because of certain personal ideals but as I see it,History is just that,History.May it be good or bad or for whatever reason,it is still part of all of our heritage.
Thanks,Westerner77
