Page 88 in Echoes of Glory show Julien and Sosthene Guilbeau of Co. D, DeClouet's Guards. Julien appears to have only one row of cuff trim, whereas Sosthene clearly has two rows of cuff trim. In Echoes it says that these two brothers joined the Orleans Battalion, but Booth's Records only says that Sosthene was in Co. ____ and that he was a conscript. Julien Builbeau is not even listed in Booth's Records.

So, although there is nothing about the photo, the photo caption, or Booth to indicate that Sosthene might be a sergeant, it is a photo that I have (but I'm unable to post it here on this board) of a soldier in the 18th Louisiana who also has a double row of cuff trim, and he is listed as being a sergeant. So, it's this member of the 18th Louisiana that brings me back to Sosthene as being a possible sergeant as well, due to the clear double row of cuff trim.
