The Mansfield, LA Battlepark museum has a letter from my great-great grandfather to his wife written the day before he was killed in the battle of Mansfield. I have a transcript of the letter if you are interested. It is mostly personal, not referring much to camp life. I have found that the Confederate Memorial Hall in N.O. does have the Co. A Crescent Regiment flag although not on display (too fragile). They are very reluctant to share photos though. I found a copy of it on www.acadiansingray.com(org?). This is an interesting site with musters of Acadian soldiers in the war. I see there is an increasing interest in the Crescent. Is anyone out there considering writing a history?
