Thank you very much for responding to my posting. If I can be of any assistance to you please let me know. I think that the information included on the Brinkley Site was based on an assumption that Pvt. Amos Fisher (part of the surrender in 1865) and Amos Kendal Fisher who married Minerva Brinkley (my great great grandparents) were one and the same. This assumption may be true, but Amos K, would have been only 16 at the conclusion of the war. I know that men (boys) of this age joined the military forces then and now (well at least in the 1960s- USN & USMC). However, I think it more likely that the Pvt. Amos Fisher was Amos Fisher Jr., the father of Amos K., who would have been in his mid forties at the surrender. A bit old for a private but subject to military service, according to CSA and La. laws - I think. My problem is- which one was the veteran?
