Would information such as this on a state militia regiment be in the National Archives or in the Louisiana State Archives? The State Archives in Baton Rouge have microfilmed copies of the CMSR which originated in the National Archives. Some of the state militia rosters made their way to the National Archives. See the National Park Service's online Index to the CMSR at http://www.itd.nps.gov/cwss/

If you want copies of the CMSRs, you can get them from the National Archives directly, and probably from the State Archives in Baton Rouge. I would recommend you order them through Jim Martin's Military Records Research Service which helps support the cost of maintaining this Civil War Message Board.

I will leave it to Art Bergeron and/or others to comment on the "2 St. Helena State Regiments" which I know nothing about.

The reference to the Louisiana Hospital in Richmond came from my research notes and an out of print Civil War Round Table work on Richmond hospitals done circa 1961-1965. Any rosters associated with this hospital that survived the war should have made their way to the National Archives.
