Thanks so much for your interest, I know that you are very busy.

Acutally the great uncle I mentioned just gave an account to the historical society. My ancestor in the Crescent was my GGGrandfather. His name was Stephen D. Lord. According to the National Park Service register of Civil War Soldiers Booth's mistakenly identifies him as L.D. Lord, so you will see two records. L.D. Lord records his service with the Crescent and S.D. Lord picks up with the Consolidated Crescent. I have examined the roll cards and it does become obvious that the two are one in the same. The L was just a transcription error.

After having traveled all over the state with the Crescent, Stephen Lord was killed in the Battle of Mansfield just a few miles from his home. His wife and 9 year old son found his body on the battle field the next morning.
