Art,
Thanks for the response on the Civil War Reviews site about the new bio of Randall Lee Gibson, and everybody else, please pardon me for asking Dr. Bergeron a quick question. Art, I've had a gentleman order a service record for a Joseph Powell in the Louisiana Reserve Corps. I'm looking through my copy of your book on Louisiana Confederate Units and I'm not seeing information on this unit. This man was 46 at the time of enlistment and I presume his service record will be no more than one or two pages. Can you tell me anything more about the Louisiana Reserve Corps? There are a number of Joseph Powells on the CWS&S and Booth's. Is it possible he served in another Louisiana unit before or after his service in the "Reserve Corps" and do you have any recommendations where I might look?
Jim
P.S. Sorry Art, I just noticed this information from the book "This guide omits militia, home guard, reserve corps, and irregular units. Insufficient information on the majority of these units exists to justify their inclusion, besides which few of them saw any active service. Independent infantry and cavalry companies and several Louisiana companies that served in regiments or battalions from other states appear in an appendix." Still, anything you can offer would be appreciated.
