Mr. Hauck,

It has taken me a while to dig out my info on Oscar Thomas Sheppard. I have a letter written in 1868 by a friend of his to his sister's husband informing him of the death of Oscar Thomas. Oscar Thomas died in New Orleans on August 17th 1868. He was "...buried in the Greenwood Cemetery by the Typographical Union in one of the Printer's Crypts." I know that he went west from Marietta, OH to fight in the Mexican war. I also know that he never returned to Marietta. Oscar is an ancestor that I don't know much about. It is possible and even believable that he fought in the civil war but I have no actual evidence that he did. I do have a photograph of him if you think that might be helpful.

What is your interest in Oscar Thomas, if indeed this is the same person?

Terry
