Re: Joab Hawkins Pratt, 19th Louisiana Infantry, C

Richard, Thanks so much for offer of the info on 19th Louisiana Infantry. I would certainly like to have the info. We had been told by a man in Tennessee who was doing research on the family tree that Joab had survived the war and that his five brothers had died. I believe he had that branch of the tree wrong with Joab being listed as dead in 1862. I would definitely like to know as much as possible about the 19th. My mother's grandfather was in the 17th La. Infantry and was captured at Port Gibson, where his brother died. I was fortunate enough to get detailed info about him from a kind person on this site. I dispersed that info to any cousin who looked sideways!

I am unable to get the canteen out of the packing crate at this time. It's "buried" below other crates and until my brother returns home, my 86 year old mom and I (crippled with arthritis) can't go in search of it. As soon as I can get to it, I will let everyone take a look.

This website is fantastic and the contributors are most generous! Thanks again.
