Re: 1862: Cpt. S. M. Todd & the Prairie Rangers

Thanks, Art. I found a few of your Ranger posts through google the other day, which prompted me to post here.

That bad reputation is what I'm counting on. As it stands, I have Confederate good guys, Union bad guys, and now need Confederate bad guys to keep the story from seeming revisionist. I'm trying to incorporate balance -- not showing good Yanks against bad Rebs or bad Yanks against good Rebs, but rather show good and bad of both sides. That said, any info you can provide would be greatly appreciated. I'd like to use the Rangers as the bad Rebs, and Todd would work himself in based on any biographical info I can find. Essentially, the higher up the Confederate military/political ladder I can trace some form of corruption the better -- starting with the Rangers at the bottom. Strangely, this has been a pretty difficult feat during such a specific period in 1862 Louisiana. Regardless of where you fall on the cause or reason for fighting the war, systemic corruption seemed to occur more readily on the Union side than Confederate.
