20th Louisiana

I'm interested in all information related to the 20th La. Regiment. My GG-Grandfather (Francois Desire Chaplain) was born in France, came to New Orleans as a young boy, and at the age of 22 or so, while working as a Baker, became a Lt. in the 20th La. in 1863. His father, Louis, operated a popular restaurant on Royal St. near Canal St., which was also probably his primary source of business.

Francois served in Cos. A & G with the 20th La., and then in Co. H of the 13th & 20th La., and "Appears on a Report of Confederates captured at Macon, Ga., April 20th to 21st, 1865, by 1st Brigade 2nd Cav. Div.".

After becoming a US citizen in 1875 he later returned to France in about 1878 and died in Paris in 1910.
