Captain Arthur Hyatt, commanding Company D, 18th Consolidated Louisiana Infantry Regiment, wrote in his diary that Gray's Brigade lost 762 men out of 2,200 men engaged at Mansfield. I think that is too high. Total casualties were probably closer to 400. The Consolidated Crescent lost 57 killed and 134 wounded. The 18th lost 19 killed and 75 wounded. There are no figures for the 28th Louisiana, but it probably lost as many as the 18th.

There appear to have been no losses at Pleasant Hill since the brigade was in reserve.

At Yellow Bayou, the 28th lost one captain captured; he may also have been wounded. According to Major Silas T. Grisamore, the 18th had "but one death and few wounded." No report for the Crescent Regiment. Any losses in that regiment would also have been very light.
