Re: campaign ribbons, Co k history

The notations at the borrom of the history I copied, shows several instances where Co. K was detached from the regiment for various duties. I can only come to the conclusion that other than the times Co. K is mentioned seperately, Co. K was serving with the rest of the regiment. That is usually the standard for all of the histories that Dyer compiled.
If the other companies are mentioned and not Co. K, then one can only suggest that they remained in the previous regimental camp while the others were detached elsewhere. It would be unusual for a regiment to enter service without all of the companies organized at or near the same time.
Campaign ribbons, as such, would predominantly be awarded on a regimental not company level so a listing of the battles the regiment participated in would be the same for the companies even if they might have not been present at them.
