If it helps, I've traced our family name, which originates in England UK, as far back as the 16th century and it's thought that all similar names like Hadnot derive from ours.
Consequently to find our name mentioned in the civil war leads me to believe that Hudnott's plantation is the correct spelling.Presumably there aren't any records in LA as to origin of ownership.?
