I am looking for any information on Thomas S. Thompson, Gen. & Staff Surg. in the Confederate Army. He supposedly died in New Orleans prior to the end of the war. I believe he is listed in the Roster of Confederate Soldiers, Vol. 15 but there is no unit information given. Where can I go for more information? My great grandfather was adopted by Dr. Thompson and his wife, apparently before the war. The national archives was unable to help.
