I feel sure your are right about St. Leger. It is in Ozark County on the Norfork River. Bordering what is now lake Norfork. It was actually located a little bit south of what is now the little village of Udall. According to Mr. Wayne Halford of west Plains, Mo. Who is considered an expert on ST. Leger or Ledger. The settlement was in the bend of the river, bordered by bluff and the river on three sides. It is located on what was called the old Price place. Now known as the old Earl Sasseen place. The Prices were supposed to have been very wealthy and had slaves, etc. Wayne believes it was named for a British general who fought in the French and Indian war. The Prices would have been some of the first settlers into the area, as were the Howards. I do not remember Schoolcraft mentioning either family. Mr. Halford does not have internet, but is very helpful.
