If you turn south off of hwy. 160 in southern missouri and take hwy. 125 through Protem,MO. you will come to the Peel ferry across Bull Shoals Lake. About 6 miles across the ferry in marion county, Arkansas and just to the west of Hwy. 125 is Short(Short's) mountain. Local legend has it that there was a Confederate? observation post there. The view from the mountain is magnificent, giving a clear view for at least 15 miles(my estimate) to the north and east into Missouri. There are also rumors of some type of action there. Does anyone know anything about it?
