hmmmmmm....this is a touchy subject for some, but I really think there IS a need for such a message board.

I know some of my CSA ancestors belonged to such groups (Clardy's MO Cavalry, Fristoe's MO Cavalry, detached units from the 11th/17th Ark. Infantry, etc.).

Their tactics got them pegged as "guerillas" by the Feds (doesn't this sound like Iraq currently?) but the bottom line was survival, so anything went. Unfortunately, the Feds reciprocated as well and documented "atrocities" were done by both Feds and Rebs to each other and to civilians. Survival via "survival lies" (as per Michael Fellman) - telling the man/men with the gun(s) what you think they want to hear, n'cest pas???

Hey, "History is history" - let the light of documentation AND family histories/lore be made available to all...!!!!
