Pure Luck

I got to thinking after my posting concerning the location of Major Wilson’s gravesite, and was wondering if anyone knows what became of the two Confederates who by sheer luck missed being executed by the skin of their teeth. By the way Bill Wilson located the grave of Major Wilson in Troy, Missouri.

The two were Private John A. Ferguson Company A of Crabtree’s Arkansas Cavalry who was replaced because he was just a teamster and Major Enoch O. Wolf of Ford’s Battalion who was reprieved by President Lincoln.

I am curious if they had children born after their release, and if so I wonder if their descendants know how close they came to not to be.
