Asa Ladd was from Stoddard Co Mo, right adjacent to Bollinger Co. In his last letter home to his wife Amy, Asa
asked his wife not to try to cross the St Francis River during the flood stages, as he knew she would go to Arkansas to be with family. According to family she left before she recieved the letter and lost everything in the wagon trying to cross the swollen river. Asa was probably a cousin to Daniel McGee, because of the Ladd/Cato intermarriages. Asa buried grave #4608 Jefferson Barracks.
