Union headstones were rounded and confederate stones were sharp pointed. The question is why pointed?
One story was the confederates made them pointed to prevent yankee soliders from sitting on there headstones but seems to be a myth.
Years of research finds no valid reason for the pointed stones.
While searching old cemeteries in Arkansas I found tent graves and pointed stones in a civilian cemetery, very old and abandomed. Was the pointed stones a religious thing?
